Viet Dreams has been providing more than 270 powerful clean drinking water system ( provides up to 300 litter/ hour) to more than 270 kindergarten, elementary and orphanages in the Central areas of Vietnam. The locations including Hue, Danang, Quang Nam, Kontum and Gia Lai, more than 60% of students at these schools are ethnic minority. We are calling for fund to fulfill 3 more schools in the new area of Quang Nam for more than 1500 children at these villages.
Many schools in Quang Nam, Kontum and Gia Lai are built on the area where used to be a cemetery or dumpster for chemical waste, so most of them can't even drill wells for daily water usage for students. In some areas like Tay Giang or closer to the border, the water could get contaminated with agent orange.
At least, students at schools will have clean drinking water for half of a day at classes or all day long at orphanages. They don't have to bring big jug of boiled water form home or buy bottled water. - Children will learn from the good example of using clean water at school and repeat it at home by not using water directly from creek, wells or even puddle.
Since our team would visit these sites every 2 months to do the maintenance, so this will really help prolong the systems' lives. In the long term, once students are used to using clean water, families around the area could join schools by buying these water for their families with a much lower fee, then these fee would pay for all the maintenance fund. It would create a healthier and more sustainable environment where children grow healthily with a brighter future.
