Seven years of war and violence has forced nearly 12 million Syrians from their homes, fleeing for their lives. As a result, Syrians lack sufficient access to water, sanitation and health care services. GlobalMedic will deliver 200 Family Emergency Kits for 1,200 people. Each kit includes one Rainfresh Household Water Purification Unit and one Hygiene Kit to support the health of families displaced by the conflict in Syria. Each kit purchased will be matched 1 to 1 by a GlobalMedic donor.
As the crisis in Syria enters its eighth year, civilians continue to bear the brunt of the conflict with over 13 million people in need of humanitarian assistance. Less than half of Syria's health facilities are fully operational and up to 35% of the population rely on unsafe water sources. The lack of access to clean drinking water and basic life necessities caused by the conflict has put the health of millions of people at risk.
In order to support the health and dignity of Syrian families affected by the conflict, GlobalMedic will deliver 200 Family Emergency Kits. Each kit will provide a family with clean drinking water for one year and a hygiene kit. Clean drinking water and proper hygiene are the first line of defense against the spread of disease, and provide lifesaving assistance. Every kit purchased will be matched by a GlobalMedic donor 1 to 1.
In some areas of Syria, families are spending up to 20% of their incomes to meet their water needs. By providing families with clean drinking water for one year, there will be a significant reduction in the financial burden of purchasing clean water. Providing clean drinking water for one year thereby freeing up additional income, will keep families healthier and improve their capacity to recover from the devastation of this crisis.
