We are very happy to inform you that the project is finished and the village has now access to clean water!
The pump is now fully installed, perfecty functioning and provide water in abundance not only for the grassroot group of women who approached us (Wend-Songda), but for all the families of Dodougou and their children.
This means a huge improvement for the health of everyone, especially for the vulnerable ones (children, elderly, pregnant women..) . Moreover, woman and children will no longer have to walk long distances to get water, giving the women time to spend on productive activities, to generate the indispensable income for their families to survive, and the kids time to study and play. The availability of water has made a big difference in their live!
Hereby the photos of very happy villagers!
A big thank to everyone who has been following, spreading the word and donating, thanks for your generosity, the future of the village is now looking very bright.
Please watch out for our other projects, and more upcoming!
The Guardavanti Team
Dear donors and followers,
as promised in the last report, we attach here the photos of the borehole drilling. Thanks to your generous donations, two months ago we were able to transfer the amount needed for phase 1 of the project to begin: the drilling.
It is impossible to describe the happiness of the villagers, and of the grassroot group of women ("Wend-Songda"), who first asked for our support, when the water spilled out from the borehole.
The funds needed for phase 2, the installation of a Volanta Pump, have been almost collected, here on Global Giving and with few other fundraising initiatives. Now, with the rains diminishing, Guardavanti decided to anticipate the missing amount, in order to let the village of Doudougu have clean water as soon as possible. The Volanta Pump will bring the water from the bottom of the borehole (100mt deep) to the ground, where villagers can have access to it.
The installation of the pump will be done in a couple of weeks.
Please consider helping us to collect the missing amount: we will close the fundraising as soon as it will be reached.
Continue to follow us, to see the final impact of your donations: we will upload all photos of the well and the pump, as soon as everything will be in place.
Thanks!
With more than half of the needed funds collected, we are delighetd to announce the beginning of the works to bring clean water in the village of Dodougou, in Burkina Faso. The works will be done in two steps: 1) water siting (determining where to drill) and drilling; 2) Volanta pump installation and related buildings
The first part of the process (1) need to be done before the rain season begins (end of May), as in the rainy season would be impossible to drill a 100mt deep borehole. For this reason, Guardavanti has already transferred the funds in order for the contracted company to start with phase 1 immediately.
Phase 2 can be done in any season, therefore it will start upon finishing phase 1 and when the total amount needed willl be completely funded.
Photos about phase 1 will be uploaded on the next report, in few weeks time!
In the meanwhile, the photos attached show a typical borehole drilling - so you have an idea what will be done in the next weeks!
Thanks to all of you who made this happening! Please continue to follow us and to support the villagers of Dodougou!

Surpassing the value of 5000€ raised on Global Giving, Guardavanti: per il futuro dei bambini is enthusiastic - this achievement was only possible with the contribution of every single one of our donors.
Beside raising funds on Global Giving, we have in place other fund raising activities: so far, all in all we have been raising 6200€ for this project. We still need around 3000€ to become the change-makers for the lives of 1200 villagers in Burkina Faso, providing them with something that we just take for granted: clean water.
The project can only start when the full amount is achieved, as the borehole has to be drilled by a specialised enterprise, being the water in Dodougou more than 100mt deep. As soon as the needed sum is reached, the money will be trasferred and the drilling will start in less than a month time. Then, another month or so, and the village will have clean water!
We are constantly in contact with our local partner, the women grassroot group "Wend-Songda", updating them on the status of fund raising. They are very happy for the funds collected so far, and impatiently look forward to start with the drilling!
So, we cannot stop here. We need to continue with our efforts to raise funds in order to change the lives of people that for the moment have to travel long distances to collect drinkable water. Don't forget: our contributions will help improving the lives of the villagers in Dodougou not only with greater health - especially for children and vulnerable people - but also giving them more time: the newly-gained time can be spent in working activities, helping the community to escape poverty.
Thanks to all who already donated for the project, the ones who will donate and spread the word among their family and friends!
Thanks for following us.
