Project Report | Dec 31, 2022
COMMUNITY CONSULTATION MEETING.

By Dungrila Pascal Mbimenyuy | Project Leader

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY.

This project is designed to address this water crisis so that marginalized communities can have access to clean and safe drinking water throughout the year. I.A.A will build two wells in Foumbot Sub-division West region of Cameroon, to provide clean and safe drinking water to over 1000 people who otherwise would not have access to clean water without this support. The aim is to ameliorate the living conditions of the Fulani people by improving health and well-being through the provision of safe drinking water.
The overall goal is to reduce infant mortality and the prevalence of cholera and other water born diseases in the community, caused by a lack of clean and safe drinking water. It aims to construct two wells to provide clean water to approximately 2000 in the entire Mogni community.

IMPACTS.

In September 2022, I.A.A launched a fundraiser for Mogni water project, with total project cost of $10,000. At present, I.A.A has raised 30% project cost through donation on GlobalGiving. I.A.A hopes to reach its fundraising goal within the shortest time possible. In December 2022, I.A.A team visited the beneficiary community to assess the current situation and seek community opinion as well as explore ways to advance and deliver the project faster because people are not in good health due to lack of clean and safe drinking water. During the visit, it was realized that the entire Mogni community is in critical need of wells to provide clean water without any shortages. It was further determine that $10,000 would build two wells to provide clean water to approximately 2000 people in Mogni community.

CHALLENGE.

Women and children travel long distance, approximately 4km daily to fetch dirty water from ponds and streams where they share with livestock and unhealthy human activities. Infant deaths and miscarriages resulting from the consumption of dirty water. School and farm time is lost as children and women spend time to fetch water. I.A.A faces the biggest challenge in mobilizing immediate funding to address this critical need. I.A.A need urgent funding through individual donation of any amount to reach $10,000 which will enable I.A.A to build two wells and improve health and well-being for over 2000 villagers in Foumbot.

WAY FORWARD.

I.A.A will continue to mobilize financial and technical resources at local and global level to make this project a reality. I.A.A will intensify fundraising efforts and collaborate with local stakeholders, community leaders and groups to request for their participation, contribution and support.
