Many displaced children in Sokoto rely on unsafe water sources that expose them to cholera, diarrhoea, typhoid, and other preventable diseases. Overcrowded camps and poor sanitation increase the risk of outbreaks, while frequent illness keeps children out of school and threatens their wellbeing. Girls often travel long distances to fetch water, exposing them to additional safety risks and reducing time for education.
Elite Star Foundation will install solar-powered boreholes, water storage tanks, and safe collection points in displacement communities serving 1,000 children. The project will also provide hygiene education for children and caregivers while establishing community water management committees to oversee maintenance. Together, these efforts will ensure reliable access to clean water and promote healthier living conditions.
