Clean water access for Rural communities in Tororo

By Henry Okumu | Project Leader

Supporting Women’s Economic Activities Through Water Access
Improved access to water is creating new economic opportunities for women in rural communities. During this reporting period, women reported significant reductions in the time spent collecting water, allowing them to focus on productive activities.
Many women have used the additional time to expand small businesses, participate in farming activities, and engage in community initiatives. Increased productivity has contributed to improved household incomes and greater financial stability.
Women's groups also played an active role in promoting hygiene education and water source protection. Their leadership has strengthened community ownership and encouraged broader participation.
Beneficiaries shared stories of how improved water access has transformed their daily lives. Reduced physical strain and increased economic opportunities have improved overall well-being and confidence.
The project continues to empower women by addressing one of the most significant barriers to their participation in economic development.
