This project will build a POD OF 4 CLASSROOMS for the YANGRI ACADEMIC CENTRE in Sindupalchowk, Nepal. The purpose of this school is to offer quality education to at-risk children in the area. Following a destructive flash flood, the prospects of these vulnerable children are once more in jeopardy, as a large part of the school was damaged. New classrooms will ensure the ongoing education of these children, providing them with the opportunity to thrive despite the challenges they are facing.
Education opportunities for children in rural Nepal are scarce. This is particularly the case for children in the mountains of Sindupalchowk, where the 2015 earthquake has taken away the lives of many and the livelihood of most. The school in Yangri was established to address this issue, but has been largly destroyed by a recent flashflood which decimated the school to just 5 classrooms. The currently 280 students K-10 are thus in dire need of new classrooms. to ensure their continued education.
This pod of 4 classrooms in proven timber-frame construction will provide classes 7-10 of the Yangri Academic Centre with an adequate learning environment. urther classromms and dorms will be constructed, as funding allows.
Quality education simply is the pathway out of at-risk situations and poverty for the upcoming generation in Nepal.
