A Civil Society Information Hub

Summary

In response to the challenges faced by NGOs in China, we launch this project to promote mutual understanding and experience exchange between the Chinese and international civil society sectors through our bilingual non-profit media platform. The project focuses on introducing the latest laws and policies, important news, studies and analysis, and stories from Chinese civil society to the international community from an independent and professional perspective.

Challenge

Increasingly stringent restrictions on the operations of NGOs in China have hindered engagement and exchange between Chinese and international civil society, leading to a significant disconnect. Despite the lifting of the COVID-19 restrictions in early 2023, the challenges in ensuring information Accessibility remain significant. In addition, the shrinking space for INGOs working in China makes it harder for international concepts, values, approaches and experiences to reach local organizations.

Solution

This project aims to bridge these gaps by establishing an Independent & Free Bilingual Communication Platform. By promoting Civil Society collaboration and confronting the Climate Crisis, we seek to enhance mutual understanding and cooperation between Chinese and international communities. Our platform will facilitate the exchange of ideas and best practices, fostering a more inclusive and resilient global civil society.

Long-Term Impact

Take climate action as an example, globally NGOs have made significant and varied contributions to the response to the climate crisis. However, the contribution of all engaged Chinese NGOs to this field is still relatively insufficient. By establishing a Civil Society Information Hub, we will promote exchanges between Chinese and foreign NGOs and make it possible for civil society beyond national boundaries to jointly respond to global crises such as climate change.
