Civil Hospital, Karachi; one of the most important public hospitals of Karachi. This is seen to be deprived of proper infrastructure, sanitation, waste management and proper cleanliness. Owing to the current hygiene conditions S.O.C.H. along with National health Forum takes an initiative to spread public awareness regarding infection control. This project focuses on hospital's uplifting and construction projects. SOCH School Volunteer program twice a year to recruit new volunteers to work.
Daily approximately 200 people visit a 40 bed unit at Civil Hospital. Because of unhygienic conditions in many wards or units at Civil Hospital Karachi, National Health Forum have teamed up with Serve Our Civil Hospital Association, which is run by students of Dow Medical College. Goal is to have clean environment and become health and add quality of life. With cleanliness patients will benefit and get less infection.
This project will hire janitors who will look after the cleanliness of those unit which will come under this program. We will only be under taking 8 units, and 3 High Dependency Units. It will solve the program of recurrent infection and decrease infections which are contagious. We also teach patient hand washing techniques and how ot prevent infection and also teach attendents of those patient How ot take care of infectious patients.
The long term help is the length of stay of patient in hospital will be less and above all a healthy environment to be well and to do well. This actions will help decrease amount of dollars spent on patient also for treatments. Clean places will promote better health and prevention is our motto.
