The City of Goodness is Ukraine's largest crisis shelter supporting women and children fleeing war, violence, and poverty. Every day it provides over 320 people (120 women and 200 children) with free housing, food, medical and psychological care, legal aid, and safety. The shelter also includes the "House of Butterflies," a specialized palliative and rehabilitation unit for seriously ill children who require constant care. Since 2016, it has helped more than 7,000 women and 9,000 children.
Since the war began, over 6 million Ukrainians have been displaced-mostly women and children who lost homes, income, and medical access. Many mothers risk losing custody, and domestic violence has surged while services are overwhelmed. The City of Goodness shelters 320 people daily, yet rising demand leaves hundreds more on waiting lists for urgent support, medical care, and safe housing.
The City of Goodness provides lifesaving shelter and recovery for women and children fleeing war and violence. Every day, 320 residents receive safe housing, food, medical and psychological care. The project prevents children from entering orphanages by keeping families together and supporting mothers through counseling and vocational programs, helping them rebuild stability and independence.
The project breaks cycles of violence, poverty, and institutionalization by helping women become independent and able to support their families. Children grow up in safety instead of orphanages, forming a resilient new generation. By empowering over 7,000 women and protecting 9,000 children, the City of Goodness strengthens communities and builds a culture of dignity and opportunity across Ukraine.
