Urgent Appeal for Support: Help Provide Healthcare

By Marlene Keller | Deputy Programmes Manager

We need your help! The Community Health Screening Project, which has already made a profound impact in rural communities across Ghana, is facing a critical funding shortfall. Due to a lack of financial resources, we have had to pause our activities for nearly a year — and the people we serve are feeling the consequences.

But with your support, we can continue our vital work.

Why This Project Matters

In many rural areas of Ghana, access to basic healthcare remains a significant challenge. Public health care is often difficult to reach, especially in remote communities where roads are poor, facilities are non-existent, and health workers are scarce. As a result, many people suffer from preventable illnesses and injuries that could be easily treated with basic first aid or medicines.

The Community Health Screening Project aims to change that. In partnership with Ghana Health Services, we organize free health screening days in underserved communities. These screenings provide vital services, including:

  • Free screening for communicable diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis, and HIV
  • Health education and counseling on available health services and preventive care
  • Information sessions on basic hygiene, nutrition, and access to medical resources

However, we cannot continue this work without your support.

The Challenges We Face

The communities we serve face several significant barriers to accessing healthcare:

  • Lack of awareness of available healthcare programs
  • Absence of basic healthcare facilities within the communities
  • Geographic isolation, with long distances to the nearest health center and poor infrastructure (no good roads, lack of electricity, etc.)
  • Financial barriers, where many people simply cannot afford the cost of medicine or basic first aid supplies

These barriers contribute to a heartbreaking reality: many lives are lost unnecessarily to preventable health issues. Minor injuries, illnesses, or conditions that could be treated with basic care or affordable medicines are often left untreated, leading to severe consequences.

Our Request: We Need Your Help

For the past year, we have been unable to conduct our health screenings or provide the much-needed services to these communities due to a lack of funding. We are now urgently seeking generous donors to help us continue this life-saving work.

Your support will enable us to:

  • Conduct more health screening days for deprived communities in Ghana
  • Provide free medical services, including vaccinations, screenings for common diseases, and education on healthcare access
  • Supply basic first aid materials and medicines to those in need

Together, we can make a lasting impact.

How You Can Help

  1. Donate: Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us reach more people. Your donation will directly fund health screenings, medical supplies, and community health education programs.

  2. Share our Campaign: Help us raise awareness by sharing this appeal with your friends, family, and social networks. The more people who know about the project, the more likely we are to find supporters who can help.

  3. Become a Regular Supporter: If you're able, consider setting up a monthly donation to help ensure the sustainability of the project. Regular support helps us plan long-term initiatives and reach more communities in need.

The Impact of Your Support

With your help, we can restore this crucial program and continue to save lives. Access to healthcare should be a right, not a privilege, and no one should suffer from preventable illnesses because they lack the means to seek care. Your donation will provide immediate relief and long-term health benefits to people who need it most.

Together, we can make a real difference. Help us bring healthcare to those who need it most in Ghana. Donate today and be a part of the change.

Thank you for your generosity and continued support.
