Christmas is one of the mostly celebrated annual events across the world commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ by Christians and non-Christians. Different countries have different Christmas traditions based on the activities done during the festive season like: - singing Christmas carols, giving gifts, decorating cities and homes, families getting together to celebrate and observing it as a day of feeding on special meals. Towards the end of the year 2018, Another Hope Children’s Ministries started fundraising for a project called Christmas blessing where it focused on blessing families that had no hope of celebrating Christmas as a special day from other days. Under this project, seventy seven (77) families were blessed in Mayuge District in Eastern Uganda and 5 families in Wakiso District and 1 in Kampala District. It was a moment of joy and happiness and how would we have brought joy to these families if it wasn’t for you our friends and supporters, we are so grateful for standing there for the causes AHCM advances and we hope you will still stand with us next this Christmas 2019 as we celebrate with the teenage mothers. Beneficiary A The gifts given to me are the best thing that has ever happened to me during the Christmas period for all my life says an old man of 75 years living with six grandchildren in Mayuge District. He survives on subsistence farming where he grows food for home use only and does not have any other income generating activity. The food he grows includes; Maize, sweet potatoes and bananas and the additional little income he gets is from his children since he looks after their children. His Christmas plan was to get a loan from the Village Savings and Loans Association (VSLA) to take him and his six grandchildren through the Christmas period and later pay in installments. This is when Another Hope Children’s Ministries visited Mayuge District to bless families with this family inclusive. The family felt so blessed with what they received because they had never seen and what impressed him most is the type of rice that was so clean and does not need sorting out dirt. He added that the cooking oil can also take him for a long period of time and the two litter big bottle of soda which he had never purchased in his life blew him mind. The blessing also saved him from getting into the pressure for paying back the loan he was planning to borrow. He is so thankful for that project t and he requested it happens again. Beneficiary B I still rejoicing for the blessing you brought to us during the festive season says beneficiary B. She is an elderly woman of 72 year from Mayuge District who depends on her children to survive. Without them she cannot afford anything for herself. Before she got to know about the Christmas blessing project, her plan was to feed on beans and cassava flour since it’s what her providers could afford. Surprisingly, she received visitors with a big package of chicken, soap, meat, soda rice, big loaf of bread and many more items. This made her almost faint because she was extremely happy because it was very new to her especially the amount of meat that was given to her impressed her so much, in her life she has never bought 4 pounds of meat. This was the best moment of her year 2018 and she is grateful the project came in place and their region was choose Beneficiary C This is one of the families outside mayuge district who got the Christmas blessing. One of the family members narrates on how low their expectations were for having a special day on Christmas. Two of the twines in this family are on the program of Another Hope Children’s Ministries and the family was in trial moments because their father who heads the family and the provider for the family was sick for two months and was not working and there was no income for the family (Father and mother are HIV Positive). Time came when they needed support and the children’s Uncle stood to treat their father whom they took away from home to stay with the children’s Uncle. Their Uncle took on full responsibility of the family as well but he could not fully sustain two families and therefore gave some little amount of money per week to help them survive. When Christmas reached, their hope was so low because they had little money yet their wish was to have a buffer prepared at home. When they were visited with the gifts for Christmas, it was so amazing that the package that was carried for them was enough for them to make their wish. With a lot of joy, that moment when they received the gifts, they got some of the meat and roasted leaving some to make sauce. The Christmas gifts made their day special and colorful since what they received was their wish that Christmas. The family is thankful for the Christmas blessing project. Thanks so much to all that donated, how would we help 77 Families have the moments in their lives
