Thanks to your support, we were able to provide school kits for 120 students in one of the regions most affected by the the worst wildfire in Chile's history. Educación 2020 partnered with the Ministry of Education and a civil society coalition called "Movidos Por Chile" on the distribution of the school kits to ensure that they reached the region with the most need.
In a ceremony that took place on May 22, 2017, the kits were provided to Preschool-8th grade students at the Pumanque School in Chile's Libertador Bernardo O´Higgins region. Many local officials and family members attended the ceremony and expressed their deep gratitute for the generosity of the donations. School principal Rosario Madariaga shared that the majority of her students had been directly affected by the fires. Some parents lost places of employment, while other families lost entire homes. Principal Madariaga also stated that the school kits were the very first help to arrive to the area and would be utilized for years to come.
The kits included a backpack, colored and regular pencils, pencil case, pencil sharpener, eraser, box of crayons, non-toxic paint in 6 colors, paintbrushes, large pad of drawing paper, and four standard notebooks. As you read this, students recovering from the effects of a major natural disaster are using these school supplies because you made it possible. From all of us at Educación 2020, thank you for your kindness.
Un abrazo,
Educación 2020
