Your unconditional gift to the Every Child Fund helps Boston Children's change the future of health for every child, here and around the world. With your support, we aim to nurture every child, support every family, and conquer every disease.
We’d like to share two exciting initiatives Boston Children’s announced earlier this year: the launch of the Sandra L. Fenwick Institute for Pediatric Health Equity and Inclusion, and a new partnership with Franciscan Children’s.
Launch of Sandra L. Fenwick Institute for Pediatric Health Equity and Inclusion
On October 14, 2021, Boston Children’s Hospital announced the creation of the Sandra L. Fenwick Institute for Pediatric Health Equity and Inclusion, a major initiative to advance pediatric health equity. Supported by more than $20 million in initial funding, the Institute will advance the hospital’s leadership in child health and help ensure that all children receive the care they need and deserve. The Institute is named in honor of Ms. Fenwick, Boston’s Children’s former CEO, who retired earlier this year. The Fenwick Institute will focus on the elimination of pediatric health disparities through pioneering research that advances clinical care. The Institute will also serve as a model among U.S. children’s hospitals with its work to address inequities internally, in how it treats patients and recruits and retains workers. Ultimately, the Institute will work to influence public policy and drive systemic change that will make health care equitable for all children.
Partnership with Franciscan Children’s
Boston Children's and Franciscan Children's recently announced a new partnership with the goal of addressing gaps in access to quality behavioral health care for children. Franciscan Children’s will become part of the Boston Children’s corporate family. The two hospitals will combine their collective experience and expertise to create a unique system of pediatric behavior health and rehabilitative care, research and teaching that will improve the lives of children and families in Massachusetts, New England and throughout the country. This partnership expands a longstanding collaboration between Boston Children’s and Franciscan Children’s that has included clinical coordination, preferred provider arrangements, staffing/coverage arrangements and advocacy for children’s issues. New investments are envisioned which will consolidate and expand upon acute care services and help to ensure that children are able to access the right care, at the right time, and in the right setting.
Both of these initiatives, made possible by generosity from donors like you, will help us to provide more equitable healthcare to children near and far. Every child—from every neighborhood and every nation— deserves a chance to grow up healthy. Thank you for joining us in making the world a better place to be a kid.
