Donation of RO Water Purifier by the officials of Canara Bank, Puducherry
On Women’s Day, 8th March 2022, the officials of Canara Bank, Puducherry visited our projects and made a donation of RO Water Purifier for the children. They shared with us that they came to know the activities of Prime Trust through word of mouth and through our social media. They spent time with the children, took note of their studies, their ambition, and their goals.
They assured that any kind of need for the children in the future will be supported by them.
The team members of Prime Trust thanked all the members for their generous contribution to the needy.
International Women's Day is commemorated in a variety of ways worldwide; it is a public holiday in several countries and is observed socially or locally in others. The UN observed the holiday in connection with a particular issue, campaign, or theme in women's rights. In some parts of the world, IWD still reflects its political origins, being marked by protests and calls for radical change; in other areas, particularly in the West, it is largely socio-cultural and centred on a celebration of womanhood.
International Women’s Day was observed by Prime Trust at Janani Home for Girls on Tuesday the 8th March 2022. Around 25 women participated in the event. Mr G. Sivakumar, Trustee of Prime Trust offered a talk. The women actively participated.
In the end, the women were offered mouthwash to make use of their families.
As part of our program on generating awareness in the community on health and hygiene, a small program is organized with the support of our staff members. From 04.03.2021, Prime Trust is organizing an event to distribute mouth wash to all the children in Janani Home and in our Remedial Schools in Colas Nagar, Ezhil Nagar and Solai Nagar. The members of the women group from Colas Nagar also received the mouth wash. While distribution, a small session on health and hygiene was offered by our staff members.
This is supported by one of our donors who are in partnership with Prime Trust since 2012
Feeding the hungry!
The fact that the world produces more than enough food to feed the entire world (4 billion metric tons), and one-third of it gets wasted, leaving hundreds of millions of people hungry, is a tragedy.
High-income countries leave food on the plate, and low-and middle-income countries leave food in the field or lose it in production. This results in millions of malnourished children dying each year from a preventable cause.
Hunger and malnutrition create a self-sustaining barrier that keeps people stuck in poverty. Hunger makes it more difficult for a person to learn, work, pursue opportunities and contribute to society. It drains a person’s energy, destroys mental acuity, and exacts a heavy price on health throughout his or her life.
Beginning with under-nutrition in fetal and early life and extending to long-term health problems such as stunted physical growth, coronary heart disease, stroke, and diabetes, malnutrition exacts an enormous cost in quality and length of life.
Keeping this in mind, Prime Trust created an awareness in the community to send excess food they have during their family celebrations. We frequently receive food and it is distributed to the local community.
On Monday, the 7th of February, food was distributed to poor, unemployed women. More than 100 got food pockets.
