Update on the Medical Escort Progam

"So far we have completed three trips in 2023.
Pictured above is Emily Reynolds when she accompanied 6 year old Francois from Paris France to Columbus Ohio for club feet surgery on Febryary 7. He is from Burkina Faso and Emily met Francois and his Air France escort, Celine in Paris. She also had the usual wonderful assistance from our colleagues at AA in Paris. Emily is one of our retired AA flight attendants who loves to volunteer for these trips.

The other February trip was to meet Mario Jose, a 20 year old young man from Nicaragua outside Miami customs and accompany him on to Milwaukee Wisconsin, where he would have orthopedic surgery. He was just a little concerned about making the entire trip alone so AA flight attendant Cynthia Sinkler met him and traveled with him the whole way

Our one January trip was our first using our UA mileage bank. AA retired flight attendant Ingrid Sargis, who now works as a UA agent in California, volunteered for this trip that accompanied 4 year old Antoinnette from Paris back, following a cleft lip and palate repair. Here, she was handed over to Leila, her Air France escort who accompanied her on to the Ivory Coast.. Unfortunately, this trip was not without problems as the United flight out of Columbus had a long mechanical problem that caused them to miss their connection in Washington DC for Paris. There was no alternate flight so they stayed overnight in Columbus and left the next day. Fortunately, since Ingrid is now a UA agent, her knowledge of their schedules helped quite a bit to find an alternate schedule for them.

We do have an upcoming Paris trip to return two children from Columbus to Paris and accompany another back to Columbus Ohio. It will take place on 17-19 Mar and our escorts will be Judi Crouse and Ellen Wright, both AA flight attendants."
