BREAD society has been very fortunate to receive unflinching support from its donors - both those residing in India and outside India.
To receive non-indian denomination funds in India, we have to take the permission of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. We first got this permission (also called FCRA permission) in 1991 and have since then been receiving foreign donations. The FCRA was renewed up until a few months back.
We have recently got a message from the Ministry stating that our renewal application has been rejected. We have submitted an application for this rejection as per the process laid down. While we are hopeful of a reversal of the original decision, we do not want to collect foreign funds for our programmes, till the issue is resolved. Hence we are closing our project on the GlobalGiving Foundation Platform.
While we are saddened by these developments, we are filled with gratitude towards the staff and volunteers of GlobalGiving who have helped us raise more Thirty Thousand Dollars from more than 200 unique donors since March 2018.
We are also filled with gratitude for your personal contribution towards our cause. Thank you from the bottom of our heart!
We will continue to do our programmes using the funds we collect in Indian denomination (INR). If you have any questions or would like to know more about our programmes and how you can continue your support, please get in touch with us at breadsociety@gmail.com.
