Children, Women and Disabled in urban slums are even more vulnerable in comparing the rural population. This project will enable children, women and differently abled to get comprehensive care . Children will be able to complete more than high school and also women and differently abled will be able to learn at least one life skill that will help them to be self dependent. In long run the anti social population that is very common among young adults living in slums will significantly come down.
Generally in Urban Slums, there is often absence of comprehensive development planning and if it is there, it may not have taken in to consideration the existing socio economic conditions and requirements of the ever growing population belonging to the economically, politically weaker sections of the society. Elysiom's comprehensive development plan will uplift the vulnerable group (Children, Women & DIfferently Abled) in the slum community will have a leader to lead their own community.
Children: Enable the children to have easy access to the formal education, this will bring down the school drop out rate. Promoting the physical development of children specially focusing on the malnourished children in the community Women: Focus on health and education of women (mostly parents) and provide them at least one life skill. Differently Abled: Emphasis on "disability inclusion" and motivate them to learn at least one life skill and developing the leadership qualities.
School drop out rate will be less than 5% (at present 16%), Children will have access to the formal education and this will take of the reducing the school drop out rate percentage. (A total of 3,282 children in the age group of 5 to 16 years in Chennai District have been found to be out of school, according to a recent study done by Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan) 200 women and 50 Differently abled will be able to learn one life skill and will become self dependent and will have good access to health.
