Garden and Livestock Program Changes Lives

We're counting our blessings this holiday season at the American Foundation for Children with AIDS.  It's been a great year and we have some incredible projects lined up for 2017.  All of them with the intention of helping HIV+ children and moms break the cycle of poverty!

Your support of this livestock project has been life-changing to the children in our programs.  Angela who is pictured here, is a window who had no means of feeding or caring for her children before entering the program.  The family received seeds for a garden and has grown corn, peanuts, cassava, beans and madesu.  Angela credits the program for teaching them to care for the garden and how to harvest the seeds for the next season.  This has been an incredible help as she cares for her family.  The garden and the crops have taken away their hunger.  In addition, the financial income helps to send the children to school.

Angela has tears in her eyes as she talks about how the hen project has been an "oxygen balloon" for her family.  She is excited to report that they have returned hens back to the project and her contract has ended.  As a family, they eat eggs and chicken meat.  Angela tells us her family has never known this kind of happiness and extends her appreciation to you, our donors.  You will never know just how much the gardens and livestock have contributed to the good health and education of her children.

Your generosity is making a difference in lives of these children and young adults.  Thank you for supporting our work!  As you make your end of the year giving decisions, please keep us in mind so we can continue helping children in 2017 and beyond.  We wish you the best year ever, full of every blessing and happiness imaginable, knowing you are a hope-giver.   If you'd like to learn even more about what we do or how you can meet some of the children you have helped, please contact Tanya Weaver at tweaver@AFCAids.org.
