You have to take the good with the bad, but some days it's hard to keep going. Lillian tells us how difficult it is to deal with the theft of her crops, but every season she continues to grow more vegetables. She feeds her family right from the garden with green vegetables, peanuts and beans. There is often some surplus to sell in order to cover medical care, school fees for the children and other home needs.
The hard lessons don't stop in the garden, they follow Lillian and her children to the chicken coop! They received six chickens and almost immediately had problems. After seeking the advice from staff, the chickens were vaccinated and recovered nicely. They have even multiplied so Lillian could return three to the center! She is anxious to return three more to complete her contract with AFCA so she can start eating meat from her chickens.
Thanks to your donations to support our livestock project, Lillian and her family are doing well. The children, Suzanne and Felicity, are in school and the family is generally healthy. They have a bright future and they understand that your financial support makes it all possible.
