“I am so excited to be a part of Stop the Silence. It is a joy to see prevention, education and awareness going out to so many, and in so many ways! In embracing my story and speaking out, I have broken the chains and stopped the silence—for it is the silence that keeps the world enslaved and allows the perpetuation to continue. I am actively putting an end to that…and from here, the sky is the limit.” - Jill Short, Stop the Silence Volunteer and CSA Survivor Force member

Hello, everyone! There is often so much going on at Stop the Silence, I have trouble remembering myself! We've been at this for 17 years and have had a real impact! AND, we keep on going with all that we do, because we MUST!

Child sexual abuse (CSA) is now on the agenda in the U.S. and other places in the world - let's keep it there until it's GONE! We can work together to make a huge difference to protect and heal children, help survivors get the assistance they need, train community members and government officials to provide services and change policies! Help us do the work we do so well! We are ALL making a difference. Change is in process. Change is in the making. Change is HERE!

I want to underline the Stop the Silence model for comprehensive programming that Cyprus is implementing with input from Stop the Silence and that we expect to implement with states in the U.S. and in other countries in Europe, Africa, Latin America, and Asia.  It takes into consideration all of the various types of interventions (education, training, policy reform) at all of the levels (individual, school, family, government, society) that need to occur to make a societal shift. Help us continue to make a huge difference now and in the future!! Here's a comment from the most-recent training in Cyprus that we conducted hosted by the Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture for ALL public school counselors and psychologists just this past January 2017: "Now I know how to use the skills we learned if I have any CSA case in my... office." See attached info and pics! The training was conducted by Pamela Pine, PhD, MPH (yours truly), Dr. Dave Corwin, and Jill Short.

Please see below for the most recent accomplishments - over the past quarter - please see past GlobalGiving reports for Stop the Silence accomplishments over this year. In this report, I'm focusing on "short and sweet" - our TOP FIVE PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS - so that you all can really digest what you have helped accomplish. Let me underline that we are making a difference LOCALLY, NATIONALLY, and INTERNATIONALLY!

HELP US EXPOSE AND STOP CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE, AND HELP SURVIVORS HEAL WORLDWIDE! Thank you for any HELP AT ANY LEVEL that you can in 2017 and beyond!!

OVER THIS PAST QUARTER - December 2016 through March 2017 - Stop the Silence has:

  1. Updated and got ready to launch (this month!) the new one-stop Nanny on-line program in collaboration with The Nanny League, which will be mandated for joining League nannies, and is also being adapted for other audiences (e.g., police, teachers, psychologists) – the reach is international given that it is online.
  2. Continued moving forward with CSA Survivor Force, and readying for those Force members to mentor the next "crop" of those reaching the media with "real" information about CSA
  3. Met and strategized with various local, state, and international groups to move forward awareness, prevention, and action agendas, e.g., with a group in Baltimore, MD to understand how best to address a very complicated and far-reaching church- and other-authority-related severe CSA events
  4. Conducted what may just be the very first all-country (mandated) training of public school psychologists and counselors in Cyprus, which included Cypriots and individuals from other countries interested in bringing the program to their locations - effecting the lives of thousands of children and families (see attached info and pics!)
  5. As the charity representative, presented at numerous Combined Federal Campaign events, but very importantly, the Navy's CFC Award Ceremony, U.S. Pentagon (see attached speech and pics) - 15 years ago, this never would have happened... Change is HERE!!

STAY TUNED THIS NEXT QUARTER WHEN WE:

  • Continue to work with Cyprus and other countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America to forward comprehensive model programming (see pics attached from the panel for which I was the Key Note Speaker this past July at the House of Commons, Parliament, London, along with speakers like Stephen McPartland, Member of Parliament for Stevenage, Hertfordshire)
  • Present our Art as Advocacy Programming at Bowie State University in Maryland and Gallaudet University in DC - the world's premier university for the deaf and hard of hearing (our Art as Advocacy programming includes the use of, for examples, the film Flesh: Bought and Sold in the U.S., by independent filmmaker Kristin Ross Lauterbach, who co-wrote the film with Christina Storm and novelist Nicole McQuaid, and the play Ask A Sex Abuse Survivor by Michael Broussard, with after-show presentations/discussions)
  • Join forces with various others like the county of Fairfax, Virginia to bring awareness about CSA and related violence through Stop the Silence: Walk to Stop Sexual Violence (see attached flyer)
  • Further expand CSA Survivor Force media outreach as well as education and training in the U.S. and abroad, e.g., I will be a Plenary Speaker at the SNAP Conference this coming August.

Thanks, all, for your help. And you can continue that help... Give through GlobalGiving! AND...

Announcing the Little by Little Matching Campaign! This campaign is designed to celebrate the power of small donations and the power of the crowd. From April 3rd to April 7th, GlobalGiving will be matching donations up to $50 at 50% while the $50,000 in matching funds remain.

So, HELP OUT ANY TIME and if you want your dollars to go further, given between April 3-7!

Thank you! Pamela Pine, Founder and CEO, Stop the Silence
