Support Awareness: Child Protection & Safeguarding

By Malik Ashfaq Ahmad Ahmad | CEO

Summary

Child Protection and Safeguarding is not just a project for us—it is the heart and soul of our organization. This initiative represents our deepest commitment to protecting children who live under constant risk due to poverty, displacement, neglect, exploitation, and lack of awareness within vulnerable communities across Pakistan.

During this reporting period, while direct fundraising activities were temporarily halted due to organizational restructuring, our advocacy, learning, and preparedness efforts have continued. We remain steadfast in our belief that protecting children is not optional—it is essential for building safe, resilient, and dignified communities.

Why This Project Matters (Core Rationale)

Children in Pakistan face multiple, overlapping risks:

  • Abuse, neglect, and exploitation
  • Child labor and early marriage
  • Exposure to unsafe environments due to poverty and displacement
  • Weak community-level safeguarding mechanisms

This project exists to:

  • Raise awareness on child protection risks
  • Advocate safeguarding principles at community and organizational levels
  • Strengthen protective attitudes among caregivers, community members, and local actors

We continue to engage people and stakeholders to explain why child protection is not a “secondary issue,” but a foundation for all sustainable development.

Activities & Progress During This Period

Although fundraising was paused, the project did not lose momentum in purpose. Key actions during this period included:

1. Advocacy & Awareness Continuation

  • Ongoing discussions with community influencers and partners on child safeguarding importance
  • Informal advocacy to keep child protection visible despite limited operational funding
  • Internal reflections and documentation to strengthen future safeguarding programming

2. Organizational Restructuring for Stronger Impact

  • Internal restructuring aimed at:
    • Improving governance and accountability
    • Strengthening safeguarding compliance and reporting systems
    • Aligning the project more strongly with international child protection standards
  • This restructuring is intended to ensure greater impact and sustainability once fundraising resumes

3. Capacity & Readiness Building

  • Review of safeguarding approaches and lessons learned from previous engagement
  • Preparing stronger frameworks for:
    • Community-based child protection awareness
    • Safe reporting and referral pathways
    • Ethical engagement with children and families

Challenges Faced

  • Temporary halt in fundraising activities due to organizational restructuring
  • Limited financial resources to conduct full-scale field activities
  • Increased community needs, while funding availability remains constrained

Despite these challenges, our commitment to child protection remains unwavering.

What We Are Learning

  • Advocacy must continue even when funding pauses
  • Communities need repeated, consistent engagement to understand child protection risks
  • Strong internal systems are essential before scaling external activities
  • Transparency with donors builds trust—even during difficult phases

This period has reinforced our belief that doing the right thing, the right way, matters more than speed.

Next Steps (Next 3 Months)

  • Resume fundraising efforts with a stronger organizational structure
  • Re-engage donors and supporters with renewed clarity and accountability
  • Restart community-level safeguarding awareness activities
  • Strengthen partnerships focused on child protection and prevention
  • Continue advocating why child safeguarding must remain a top priority, not an afterthought

Message to Our Supporters

This project is close to our hearts because every child deserves safety, dignity, and protection. Even during times of restructuring and financial pause, we have not stepped away from this mission.

Your continued belief, trust, and support help us keep child protection at the center of our work. Together, we can ensure that vulnerable children are not forgotten—and that safeguarding becomes a shared responsibility within our communities.

Thank you for standing with us.
