Globemed at Tufts has raised funds through our GlobalGiving challenge in December and a benefit auction dinner this past May in order to support our child health education program. Our efforts will ultimately help PHASE Nepal to institute a child health education program in order to facilitate the development of healthy behaviors in Nepali youths. By teaching youths the importance of hygeine, sanitation, and other personal health issues, the program will promote better health in the region and prevent more serious health issues.
Our chapter's GROW team has also recently returned from their trip to Nepal. Sharing her thoughts on the experience is current president, Emily Miller:
This summer’s GROW trip acted as the initial bridge between GlobeMed at Tufts and PHASE Nepal, laying the foundation and cultivating a relationship for a long-term partnership between the two organizations. The GROW internship was an incredible opportunity for our team of five GlobeMed at Tufts members to gain necessary experience and knowledge of PHASE Nepal abroad so that GlobeMed at Tufts can effectively support and advocate for PHASE. During our time in Nepal, we experienced PHASE’s work in the livelihood, health care and education spheres, with a special emphasis on the organization’s educational efforts. The trip was critical in getting to know our partner PHASE and was important not only to increasing the engagement of our GlobeMed at Tufts chapter in PHASE’s advocacy and fundraising efforts, but also to inspiring and educating the greater Tufts community about the global health movement.
