Scouts
By Lisa Veitenhans | Volunteer
Next week our Scouts group will go out camping. It's an exciting time for the students! Many children growing up in the compounds never get out of Lusaka to see the beauty of their country. Our students imaginations and view of possibilities are intrinsically changed because of these opportunities. They learn basic outdoors and leadership skills while having a great time with friends and mentors.

Sports

Chikumbuso's secondary students are getting educations thanks to the generosity of our donors, but not just education. On Friday, we were very proud to send one of our students, Anita Chibombe off to Chipata to participate in the Inter-Provincial ball games for high schools. Anita is quite good and participates in these competitions with her head held high. She is getting an opportunity to learn strategy, competition, good sportsmanship in an environment that would have been completely outside the range of possibilities for most children growing up in Ng'ombe. Good luck, Anita!

Growing Library

It is wonderful to watch as many of you learn about a variety of projects and then so wonderfully freely give of yourself so that others may have. About a year ago, a friend, deeply connected and passionate about Chikumbuso thought, "I wonder if I could get an entire library of books sent over to Chikumbuso." There were not many books for the children at Chikumbuso to choose from and their was a need to build a Library/Study hall. Her small thought, grew, gathered some steam, she asked others to join in, partnered with groups of extraordinary ability to do something about shipping in partnership, and BAM, we have books and now a beautiful library.
This library will not be used by Chikumbuso students alone but will provide a well equipped study hall for our Secondary students as well. Most students in the slum have a difficult time finding a quiet well lit place to study . The Chikumbuso orphans have been given a great opportunity to go to school and with the help of their teachers they are exceeding their own expectations. Please continue to help to help these children finish well by sponsoring a child to continue his/her education.
May your generosity arise in identifying with the needs of others, and may you be filled with the joy that comes from watching small thoughts grow into big things and may you have the time and desire to see it done. We can not do it with out you.
