Chikumbuso Women and Orphans Project is able to provide a free education for students through sixth grade. However, once leaving Chikumbuso, students require sponsorship in order to attend the expensive local community high school. Chikumbuso has pledged to fund all students that want to continue their education after leaving our school.
The key to the future for these AIDS orphans is education, which comes for a price here in Lusaka, Zambia. After graduating from our free program, the orphans are unable to afford the price of attending secondary school, as well as provide their own school supplies. If students are not properly prepared for class, they are sent home until they are able to purchase the items that they need for school.
This project will provide funding for our graduating students to continue their schooling. Chikumbuso will also provide supplies for the students such as uniforms, notebooks, and pencils. Full sponsorship of a student will also include goods and food for the month, a mattress, mosquito net, and a blanket.
Presently Chikumbuso funds over 150 orphans in their quest for higher education. Every year Chikumbuso graduates even more students from their new sixth grade classroom. It is imperative that these orphans understand that they will not be left to create a future on their own.
