Last year we introduced you to Mukami, an 8 year old girl that we rescued from working as a house help in Nairobi. Upon reintegration back home we realized that her family was very poor and could not to support the children’s basic needs. The family of nine (seven children and two adults) lived in a tiny shack … see picture below.
Mukami, now 10 years has been transformed from the timid girl we rescued in 2011, to a healthy and cheerful girl who is full of life. She is now in school and although her grades are not yetgood enough, she is making good progress. Her poor performance is attributed to the fact that she joined school late. At her age, Mukami should now be in Class four but she is class two. She will require a private tutor to catch up over the next one year. Childline Kenya is taking care of this.
Mukami is not the only one that has benefited in this family; we have also placed her four siblings in school. Your contributions have a made a big difference to this needy family.
Last year, we expressed our desire to build a decent home for this family. Well, this project is almost becoming a reality. Local organizations in Mukami’s home area committed to support Childline Kenya to meet this need.. Our first goal is to secure a piece of land where to put up a permanent shelter. The total cost for this project is USD 5,000.
We are kindly requesting you to support this worthwhile endeavor and let’s give a home to Mukami and her family a home
