"I'm very happy because I can come to school to learn a lot of things and play soccer with my friends," Dustin replied when his teacher asked him why he was so happy that Monday.
Thanks to the support of our benefactors, Dustin and 92 other children have the opportunity to receive a proper education.
Through the Albergue's integral education project, 67 children and 26 adolescents who previously had no access to education are now able to attend school regularly, have the support of educators to help them with their homework, and develop cognitive and language skills such as fluency, articulation and reading comprehension through the special education program.
Partial evaluations have allowed us to detect important advances:
1. Improvement in school performance, is reflected in the increase in the group average, compared to the average of the previous period.
2. The close follow-up of the educators in the different school activities, as well as the knowledge and skills acquired in the mathematics, physics and chemistry workshops, as well as the special education therapy offered to them, have allowed the beneficiaries to acquire greater self-confidence by developing a healthy self-esteem.
3. In children attending special education therapies, we have detected tangible advances in their reading skills, as well as improvements in oral and written language.
With these results we can glimpse that the great effort made jointly: benefactors, beneficiaries, families and the Albergue, is yielding positive and lasting results in the attended population.
For this reason, on behalf of the Albergue Infantil Los Pinos children, I would like to thank each of our Global Giving benefactors and encourage them to continue being that light of hope to our kids.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
