Education can change 93 children's lives in Mexico

We are very happy to greet you again. Thank you very much for continuing with us, since this makes it possible for children and young people in vulnerable situations to continue studying and preparing themselves to fulfill their dreams and become independent human beings with a better quality of life.

On this occasion, we will tell you what a normal day of learning is like in the life of our beneficiaries. Since they are not only motivated to continue with their formal education but also to learn new knowledge that can be useful for their adult life. Likewise, they are encouraged to learn daily through play.

Our beneficiaries' day begins with personal grooming, as well as a balanced breakfast. Afterwards, they have school reinforcement sessions, in which they receive individual support from an educator to do their homework. Once their school reinforcement session is over, they have a time for various workshops such as sports, nutrition, mental health (according to the weekly schedule) or free play. For our team it is important to generate free learning spaces, therefore, both in the Children's House and in the Youth House of Albergue Infantil Los Pinos, we have learning tools such as musical instruments, books, and educational toys. After this space, the children and teens clean up and get ready to go to their respective school classes in the afternoon. 

We consider it fundamental to strengthen habits aimed at achieving life goals and therefore, we motivate our children and youth to be disciplined and work daily for the life they long to live. We make sure that they are enjoyable activities, which allow a space for play.

In our Institution, we teach them that both formal education and learning different life skills are fundamental for the achievement of their goals.

Aprendizaje de hábitos para una vida mejor.

Estamos muy contentos de saludarte nuevamente. Mil gracias por continuar con nosotros, ya que ello posibilita que niños y jóvenes en situación vulnerable puedan seguir estudiando y preparándose para cumplir sus sueños.

En esta ocasión, te contaremos cómo es un día normal de aprendizaje en la vida de nuestros usuarios. Dado que no sólo se les motiva a continuar con su educación formal sino también a aprender conocimientos nuevos que podrán servirles para su vida adulta. Asimismo, se propicia que aprendan diariamente mediante el juego.

El día de nuestros usuarios inicia con arreglo personal, así como un desayuno balanceado. Posteriormente, ellos tienen sesiones de reforzamiento escolar, en los cuales reciben apoyo de manera individual de un educador para realizar sus tareas y deberes escolares. Una vez termina su sesión de reforzamiento escolar, tienen un espacio para diversos talleres como deportivos, nutricionales, salud mental (de acuerdo a la programación semanal) o en su caso un tiempo para juego libre. Para nuestro equipo es importante generar espacios de aprendizaje libre, por ello, tanto en Casa de Niños como en Casa de Jóvenes del Albergue Infantil Los Pinos, se cuenta con herramientas de aprendizaje como instrumentos musicales, libros, juguetes educativos. Después de este espacio, los niños y jóvenes se asean y arreglan para acudir a las clases de sus respectivos grados escolares en el horario vespertino.

Consideramos fundamental fortalecer los hábitos dirigidos al cumplimiento de metas de vida y por ello, motivamos a nuestros niños y jóvenes a ser disciplinados y trabajar diariamente por la vida que anhelan vivir. Nos aseguramos que sean actividades disfrutables, las cuales permitan un espacio de juego

En nuestra Institución, les enseñamos que la educación tanto formal como el aprendizaje de las distintas habilidades para la vida son fundamentales para el logro de sus metas.

Thanks to your contribution it was possible to continue fighting the malnutrition with which our new children and adolescents arrive at the Albergue.

At the Albergue, we not only provide complete meals and nutritional education to our users, we also ensure their active participation in our nutritional program. At the end of each school year, we conduct a satisfaction questionnaire to ask them about their opinion regarding the preparation, presentation and combination of meals. In this way, we obtain those plates that are less popular or that most children do not like.

In addition, our users are given the opportunity to suggest options for snacks and meals that they would like to receive. These suggestions, as well as the least favorite foods, are taken into consideration during the elaboration of the menus for the new school season. This is done by the nutrition specialist, who works together with the cooks at the Albergue. The nutritionist prepares special menus for children and adolescents detected as overweight or obese. Through quarterly nutritional monitoring, adjustments are made to these special menus according to the progress in the nutritional status of our users.

With the above measures, we mainly seek to improve the nutritional, physical and emotional health of our children and adolescents, making them participate in their own nutrition. We thank you infinitely for your help and for staying with us during this time. Your support is very valuable as it allows all these nutritional changes in the lives of our children and adolescents to be possible, which will enable them to improve in other areas of their lives both in their present and in their future.

Niños nutridos y satisfechos con su alimentación

Estamos muy contentos de saludarte nuevamente y tener la oportunidad de contarte sobre nuestra labor en estos últimos meses.

Gracias a tu contribución fue posible seguir combatiendo la malnutrición con la que llegan al Albergue nuestros niños y adolescentes de nuevo ingreso. Los niños aprendieron a realizar snacks saludables con pocos recursos, lo cual posibilitará que, en un futuro, elijan opciones más saludables para comer durante los días escolares.

En el Albergue, no sólo brindamos alimentación completa y educación nutricional a nuestros usuarios, también vigilamos su participación activa en nuestro programa nutricio. Cada final de cursos se realiza una encuesta de satisfacción mediante la cual se les pregunta su opinión respecto a la preparación, presentación y combinación de platillos. De esta manera, se obtienen aquellos platillos menos populares o que a la mayoría no le agrada.

Asimismo, se brinda el espacio a nuestros usuarios para que sugieran opciones de refrigerios y comidas que les gustaría recibir. Dichas sugerencias, así como las comidas menos favoritas se toman en cuenta durante la elaboración de los menús del nuevo ciclo escolar. Esta elaboración la realiza la especialista en nutrición, quien trabaja en conjunto con los cocineros del Albergue. La nutrióloga realiza los menús especiales para los niños y adolescentes detectados con sobrepeso u obesidad. Mediante un monitoreo trimestral, se realizan ajustes a estos menús especiales de acuerdo a los avances en el estado nutricional de nuestros usuarios.

Con las medidas anteriores, buscamos principalmente que la salud nutricional, física y emocional de nuestros niños y adolescentes mejore, haciéndolos participes de su propia alimentación. Te agradecemos infinitamente tu ayuda y el permanecer con nosotros en este tiempo. Tu apoyo es muy valioso ya que permite que todos estos cambios nutricionales en las vidas de nuestros niños y adolescentes sean posibles, lo cual posibilitará que mejoren en otras áreas de sus vidas tanto en su presente como en su futuro.
