Supporting Youth In Nelson Mandela Bay

By Esther Sampson | External Relations Manager

Pilot Sithembiso from Youth Rising
Pilot Sithembiso from Youth Rising

Thank you for continuing to support United Through Sport, we are proud to share some of the success stories from our Youth Rising program.

Lindiwe who came through our Keep Active, Senior School of Excellence and Youth Rising programs is now an important member of our United Through Sports team. She manages the Youth Rising program and she is determined to provide youth members with the skills they need to unlock opportunities, just like she did. Recently Lindiwe received her driver’s license and with our support is purchasing her own car which will give her independence. We are proud to have Lindiwe as part of our team, she provides valuable insight into the program and how to help youth on their pathway to success!

Sibulele, graduated from Nelson Mandela University in 2019 and he is now working as a real estate agent in the Nelson Mandela Bay area. We assisted him through high school with a full scholarship to Pearson High School and he received support through Youth Rising while he was in university. We are proud of his achievements and we look forward to sharing his journey with you.

Another stand-out Youth Rising member is Sithembiso who has also been a beneficiary at United Through Sport for a number of years. This year, he has completed his training to become a pilot and has received his Commercial /IR Pilot License.  He is currently working to complete his remaining flying hours before he can fly commercially. The first time Sithembiso flew was when he traveled with United Through Sport on a tour to England, what a journey he has been on.

"It's wonderful to see our beneficiaries who started in the program more than 10 years ago making it all the way through school and higher education and entering into the job market.  They are now positive contributors to society and have truly transformed their lives and those of their families." - Director Nick Mould
We are so proud of the accomplishments of our Youth Rising beneficiaries and we are looking forward to sharing more of their success stories with you.
