Resonate empowers women and girls through storytelling, working with them to build confidence and leadership and become agents of change. Launched in Fall of 2013 in Rwanda, Resonate partners with organizations that focus on women's skill building. By working closely with partners who have a deep understanding of participant needs, Resonate develops customized curriculum that complementary to existing programs, and focuses on improving personal presentation and public speaking.
Rwanda has a large focus on improving economic prosperity through empowering women, and as a result there are many organizations in Rwanda that focus on women's economic prosperity, skill building and education. Yet the problems facing women are not strictly material. A woman may have an incredible business idea, business training, and access to a microloan - yet if she isn't comfortable talking about her idea and why she is the right person to do it, it may never get done.
Resonate catalyzes the rise of the next generation of female leaders, using our Storytelling for Leadership training to engender confidence and agency. We operate a direct training program, and also a train-the-trainer's course to build the capacity of local organizations and expand the potential for impact.
Our programs increase leadership capacity, develop professional skills, build community, help participants inspire others, incite action, and help organizations measure and communicate impact. If we want women to be at the forefront of a movement to build prosperity, it is not enough just to ask women to speak out -- we must give them the tools and support they need to make their voices resonate. This year we will train 450 women leaders, facilitate 25 workshops, and train 20 trainers.
