Provide Cassava milling machine for 120 Farmers

Project Summary

The project aims to provide a cassava milling machine to the Bukpe community, located in the Kwali Area Council of Abuja, Nigeria. This initiative seeks to enhance the processing of cassava, particularly the production of garri, thereby increasing the economic income of 120 local farmers. Additionally, the project endeavours to foster entrepreneurship through the integration of the Street Business School curriculum.

 Challenges

Bukpe village faces significant challenges in maximizing the economic potential of cassava farming. The absence of adequate processing facilities results in substantial post-harvest losses, with approximately 60% of cassava produce going to waste during processing. Moreover, women farmers, who play a crucial role in cassava processing, are burdened with manual peeling methods, while drying activities are rudimentary and conducted on the floor within households.

Current Status

Si4dev has successfully raised $977 towards the implementation of the project. However, further funding of $33,975 is required to fully execute the initiative. Despite the financial constraints, the team remains committed to realizing the project's objectives and continues to engage stakeholders for support.
