Project Summary
This project aims to provide a cassava milling machine to the Bukpe community in the Kwali Area Council of Abuja, Nigeria. The initiative seeks to improve cassava processing, particularly for garri production, and enhance the economic well-being of 120 local farmers. In addition, the project plans to promote entrepreneurship by incorporating the Street Business School curriculum into the community.
Challenges
Bukpe village faces significant challenges in unlocking the full economic potential of cassava farming. The lack of proper processing equipment leads to considerable post-harvest losses, with around 60% of cassava produce being wasted during processing. Furthermore, women farmers, who are central to cassava processing, rely on manual peeling techniques, while drying is done in rudimentary conditions, often on the floor in household spaces.
Current Status
Si4dev has so far, raised $977 toward the implementation of the project. However, an additional $33,975 is needed to fully complete the initiative. Despite the financial gap, the project team remains dedicated to achieving the goals and is actively seeking further support from stakeholders. Your continued support is vital to the success of this project. We are confident that, with your help, we can empower farmers in the Bukpe community, promote sustainable agricultural practices, and improve local livelihoods. We are grateful for your ongoing commitment to this cause and deeply appreciate the positive impact of your contributions.
