Overview

Hire Heroes USA is deeply grateful to our community of GlobalGiving donors for their generous contributions, which have been instrumental in empowering Hire Heroes USA to make a significant difference in the lives of transitioning US service members, veterans, and their spouses. As thousands of active duty, Guard, and Reserve members enter into the civilian workforce each month, Hire Heroes USA rises to the task of personally assisting each client as they navigate the challenges of finding meaningful civilian employment. Our cornerstone programs, including the Partnered Career Transition Program, Junior Enlisted Program, Women Veteran Program, and Serving Spouses Program, play a key role in the success of each client. Through each of these programs, clients receive tailored services and assistance, including 1:1 career counseling and assessment, resume and LinkedIn profile writing, interview practice, job search and placement support, skills training, and networking guidance. The ongoing support from our GlobalGiving donors is vital, enabling Hire Heroes USA to maintain and enhance our commitment to serving our clients on an individual and ongoing basis.

Impact

Support from our GlobalGiving donors allows Hire Heroes USA to provide much-needed career transition services to the veteran and military community at no cost. Since launching our GlobalGiving project in September 2023, Hire Heroes USA has served 4,565 clients through December 2023, confirming 3,606 clients hired into meaningful employment. With the average cost-per-hire approximately $1,000, as a result of our GlobalGiving network’s support, Hire Heroes USA was able to directly support 30 of these veterans and military spouses in their endeavors to find rewarding careers. In calendar year 2023, Hire Heroes USA proudly provided services to 20,581 unduplicated clients. Of these individuals, 13,616 reported finding employment with an impressive average salary of $69,256. Of reporting clients, 72% remained gainfully employed in their roles at the six-month mark, reflecting the lasting impact of our assistance. Every client hired into employment creates a cause for celebration at Hire Heroes USA, and we are thrilled to report that we have surpassed 91,000 lifetime hires since 2007.

We firmly believe finding a great job–and the sense of self-worth, financial health, and community integration that goes with it–is an upstream event that leads to positive downstream outcomes for our clients. When transitioning service members and their family members are well-supported, they can return home to lead healthy, productive lives–resulting in an improved quality of life, as well as lasting community and economic benefits. Behind each data point we collect is an individual whose life has been significantly impacted through Hire Heroes USA and the contributions of our GlobalGiving supporters. Through client success stories, Hire Heroes USA is able to capture the lasting impact our services have on an individual’s life. Seiko and Neal’s stories perfectly reflect the life-changing influence our services can have.

Success Stories

Seiko, Military Spouse

Hired As: Teacher

Seiko,a military spouse, faced distinct challenges in her job search due to her international professional and educational background.  This unique experience presented slight barriers in finding meaningful employment in the US. Additionally, Seiko had concerns about creating a resume, as she candidly shared, “English is my second language, so writing is difficult for me.”  She also expressed uncertainty around navigating job search platforms like Indeed and LinkedIn. Determined to overcome these hurdles, Seiko reached out to Hire Heroes USA for assistance. Upon registering for services, Seiko was connected with her Transition Specialist, Robert. Robert’s guidance was instrumental in Sieko’s journey to gainful employment. She shared how Robert would check in and help her with resume development, stating, “it was a big help!” Through her dedication and Robert’s steadfast assistance, Seiko successfully found employment as a teacher, a position that perfectly aligns with her skill set and experience. She told our team that Hire Heroes USA’s “resources are great!”

Neal, Army, E-6

Hired As: Technician II

After dedicating 20 years to the Army, Neal faced one of his biggest challenges while transitioning to civilian life: creating a resume. With no prior experience in resume writing and the daunting task of translating his military skills to a civilian context, Neal shared, “”I was dreading the prospect of creating a resume.” Knowing that he would need assistance with his resume and civilian career transition, Neal signed up for services with Hire Heroes USA. As soon as he was registered for services, he was paired with a dedicated Transition Specialist, Amanda. Amanda proved to be monumental in Neal’s transition. Neal explained, “We kept in touch on a regular basis, by phone, email, and text. It was never too much communication and always helpful and motivating.” Amanda worked with Neal to develop a high-quality resume for his civilian job search. Neal recalled, “Amanda wrote a resume for me that required minimal tweaking on my end.” Using his new resume, Neal was prepared to start applying to jobs in his industry of focus. Soon after submitting a series of job applications, Neal successfully interviewed for and was offered a position as a Technician with an Information Technology company. Neal shared some final thoughts with our team, saying, “What I would tell anyone transitioning out of the military is that you should not pass up the opportunity to work with Hire Heroes USA. Even if only for a resume, it’s an invaluable service that you should not pass up.”
