Last month, we hosted our first-ever week-long day camp for children who have special needs. Eight children, five JOY Home staff members, and nine volunteers spent a week of fun, activities, and laughter at "Camp Joy."
Four of the children were JOY Home regulars and four were children from our community. We had activity stations - Sensory, Arts & Crafts, Outdoor Play, and Crash 'n Bump OT - along with Music and Movement, Parachute Play, and a hot lunch we enjoyed together. We even celebrated birthdays on two days that week! I'm not sure who had more fun - the kids or the adults!
The volunteer team from Arkansas was amazing, and we are grateful to our new friends at the Stichting Mara Rotterdam organization for sponsoring camp! It's amazing what can be accomplished when we work together!
We are now on a short summer break and will resume JOY Home Day Center activities in August.
Thank you for your interest in, and support of, Lighthouse of Hope! Together we are making a difference in the lives of some really amazing kids in Macedonia!
