Hi, Friends!
Summer is here and we are loving it!
Since May, we have been focusing on monthly themes at The JOY Home, such as "I love me!", "Safety First" and "Water Play." The kids have been learning all about their bodies, the five senses, road and water safety, and basic first aid. We have incorporated art projects, exercises, and educational games to make learning fun!
Water play is always a huge hit - the kids have had fun "washing dishes" in a big bucket outside, splashing in the kiddie pool, and enjoying obstacle courses. Most of the time, they don't even realize they are having therapy because we laugh, dance, play games, and sing while we "work."
We have already begun planning the Fall therapy programs - and we can't wait to spend September "On The Farm" at the JOY Home, learning about farm animals, fruits and vegetables, and colors. Our therapists have organized all of the activities with modifications based on the individual needs of each child so that each activity can stretch their abilities while keeping the bar at a healthy level so that they are encouraged and find success.
The JOY Home will be closed for the next three weeks, and reopen the week of August 8th, as we prepare for the Fall program (and also beat the extreme heat that is covering Europe right now).
It is such a privilege to spend our days with these amazing kids, as we watch them grow and blossom. Thank you for making our work in Macedonia possible. We are so grateful for you!
