The project will work with Orphans and Other Vulnerable Children (OVC's). An orphan is any child who has lost one or both parents, while a vulnerable child is one with physical or mental challenge, IDP, Refugee child or street children due to circumstances beyond their control. Given that youths represent the backbone of the nation, investing in social protection in general and in the protection of children in particular, is much more than a duty. It will provide care/support over 500 children.
Cameroon is currently facing sociopolitical crisis in the NW and SW regions of the Country since late 2017. It started as a protest and later on escalated into armed conflict which has claimed over 3000 lives and 5000,000 Internally Displaced. Many children have lost one or both parents, houses burnt down living thousands of children vulnerable on the street without access to food, water, education, shelter and legal protection. These children are exposed to all forms of abuses and exploitation.
I.A.A will use an integrated approach to care and support children in difficult situation (OVC's) in Bamenda III, Northwest region of Cameroon. I.A.A will train 12 social workers to provide psycho-social support to 300 OVC's through home visits and interpersonal communication on monthly basis. I.A.A will provide food, health assistance, cloths, legal assistance, sanitation and educational support for the 300 identified OVC's in Bamenda. The aim is to protect and give hope to these children.
The project will give hope to over 300 OVC's in Bamenda, by increasing social protection efforts through nutritional support, legal, health, education, sanitation and clothing. It is hoped that there will be an increase in community action through the involvement of non-traditional actors in social protection of Children. Improved mental health as 300 OVC's would survive, develop and have liberty by receiving adequate care and protection against all forms of abuses and exploitation.
