This project aims to train and support the urgent need for care providers for those most in need especially seniors in their homes, veterans with physical disabilities, those with developmental disabilities and those in long-term care homes, transitional facilities, hospitals and address the shortage of healthcare staffing, fostering improved healthcare outcomes , quality of life and make a positive impact in our communities.
The healthcare sector is facing an acute staffing shortage and this has caused emergency departments to close temporarily for weeks. There were at least 145 unplanned emergency department closures in 2023 in Ontario as reported by CBC news on Marc 8,2023. The Ontario Health sector spending plan review has projected a shortfall of 33,000 nurses and PSWs from 2023-2027. With staffing shortages, emergency room closures and the need for more beds, many patients and seniors are seeking care at home.
There are over 6000 unutilized Internationally trained nurses in the Province because of lack of license and Carelinks is giving training to them in areas where they require competency to serve as PSWs and the organization has also established a training plan for more PSWs to support people who need care in their homes. transitional facilities, Long-term care homes and hospitals. This will address the critical healthcare staffing shortage and improve the quality of life of our seniors& veterans
Through this program, carelinks aims to support the healthcare sector in with an additional healthcare work force of at least 20,000 care providers and PSWs in the next 3-5 years to provide the much needed care for people in their homes, Long-term care facilities, transitional facilities and hospitals and this will alleviate suffering, improve the quality of life and make a positive impact in people's lives and our communities.
