Sound Equine Options (SEO) was founded in 2009 to assist the growing number of neglected and abused horses in our community. Our mission is to save the lives of horses through support, education, rehabilitation, training and adoption. A licensed rescue focusing on ending the cycle of abuse, neglect, abandonment and suffering for local horses, SEO assists with law enforcement cases, often in partnership with Oregon Humane Society. Horses require more food in colder months since they need to keep their weight up to weather the elements. However, since pastures do not provide the nutrition needed during winter, neglected horse are even more vulnerable. The neglect becomes increasingly noticeable as they shed precious pounds and concerned neighbors and law enforcement seek assistance. Sound Equine Options steps in to rescue these animals from miserable and often life-threatening conditions.
This project will allow Sound Equine Options to provide shelter, good nutrition, and basic medical care to vulnerable equines.
By partnering with law enforcement, we provide the resources needed to remove horses from severe neglectful situations. This collaborative effort sends a clear message to the community: horse neglect will not be tolerated.
