We have been with GlobalGiving less than a year, but we are already huge fans!
It's been a wonderful platform for us, and in that fairly short time we have raised more than $8,000 to support our mission of developing opportunities for young adults with developmental disabiliites. We are proud to report that we have been able to purchase all of the comunication equipment on our shopping list, and perhaps prouder still that this was accomplished with the help of 83 donors. Individual donations ranged from $10 to more than a thousand, underscoring once again the power of the many to make a huge difference in the world.
I've attached a picture of an interactive whiteboards that we were able to purchase and install on the first floor of the Life College with your help.
We are touched by and greatful for your part in this effort.
And, we wanted to take a minute more to introduce you to our next GG challenge.
For maturing adults with developmental disabilities, wellness is a huge issue, and it's often overlooked in the effort to secure affordable safe housing and income-producing employment. And yet, knowing how to take care of our mental and physical well-being involves crucial -- and teachable -- life skills.
Our next project will fund creation of a garden space and a related garden-to-table nurtition learning program for young adults at 3LPlace Life College. We have an educator on staff with experience in developing these kinds of programs, and all of the research shows that young people who learn about and produce their own healthy food are far more likely to eat it later on in life.
We hope you will check out this new project, and consider it for your support!
Like everything we do at 3LPlace, our goal for this program is to share our experiences, both successes and challenges, so it can be replicated in other locations, both in the U.S. and abroad.
Thanks again for your kindness and your social action on behalf of youing adults with developmental disaiblities everywhere.
