1. Introduction
The Amazing Life Foundation (ALF) continues to pursue its mission of improving child nutrition care, empowering youth and women through income-generating activities, and caring for the earth. In line with our empowerment programs, ALF initiated a project to support 500 teenage mothers with skills in tailoring and sustainable livelihoods. This report documents the successful procurement of 500 sewing machines, ensuring each beneficiary receives one machine for training and business start-up.
2. Project Objectives
- To economically empower 500 teenage mothers through tailoring and garment production. - To reduce vulnerability, dependency, and early child marriage among young mothers by equipping them with vocational skills. - To create opportunities for self-reliance, household income improvement, and community development. - To promote dignity and confidence among teenage mothers through ownership of tools for production.
3. Procurement Process
The procurement followed ALF’s transparent and accountable procedures:
1. Needs Assessment: Consultations with community leaders, local government, and beneficiaries to confirm tailoring as the most viable skill for teenage mothers. 2. Supplier Selection: Quotations were sourced from reputable sewing machine suppliers to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness. 3. Purchase & Delivery: A total of 500 brand-new sewing machines were purchased and delivered to ALF’s training centers. 4. Verification & Distribution: Each machine was inspected for functionality before being assigned to a specific beneficiary.
4. Beneficiary Distribution
- Target Group: Teenage mothers aged 14–24, identified through community outreach. - Geographical Coverage: [Insert districts/regions where the machines were distributed]. - Allocation: Each of the 500 teenage mothers received one sewing machine.
5. Expected Outcomes
- Immediate Outcome: Teenage mothers acquire tailoring skills through hands-on training with their own machines. - Intermediate Outcome: 500 teenage mothers establish tailoring businesses, generating personal and household income. - Long-term Impact: Reduced poverty, reduced vulnerability to exploitation, improved child care, and stronger community resilience.
6. Challenges Faced
- Logistics of transporting large quantities of machines to rural areas. - Ensuring continuous mentorship and follow-up support for all beneficiaries. - Maintenance and servicing needs for the machines over time.
7. Recommendations
- Establish savings and credit groups for the beneficiaries to support business growth. - Partner with local markets and fashion outlets to create ready customers for their products. - Set up periodic monitoring and evaluation to measure progress and address emerging challenges.
8. Conclusion
The purchase and distribution of 500 sewing machines marks a significant milestone in empowering teenage mothers to overcome barriers and build self-reliant livelihoods. ALF remains committed to ensuring that this initiative contributes to lasting socio-economic transformation for both the beneficiaries and their communities.
