Business Training to Empowerment 20 Mayan Women

Last December 2014, Fundación ProEmpleo Productivo began the challenge in GlobalGiving. It was a new experience for the organization since it was the first time we raised funds through an international website. We accomplished the challenge by raising the amount of $ 5,225.00 US dollars from 70 donors. Of this amount we got through GlobalGiving, $ 4,747.75 US dollars which will allocate the purpose with which we began this important campaign.

Our project seeks to offer to 20 Mayan women in the municipality of Oxkutzcab, Yucatán the opportunity to receive business training to start or improve a business that will serve not only to generate economic autonomy, but also to strengthen confidence in themselves and empower them as leaders of their communities so they can transmit new knowledge to their families and friends and in the not too distant future create jobs.

The project has already started its first steps. On February 21st, we made a call to all women in the municipality of Oxkutzcab in order to organize and inform about the requirements of this training. The purpose of the talk was to let them know the benefits that they will have if they take the workshop and also we mentioned them the importance of the contribution that many donors gave for the cause so they can bring to reality the dream of owning a business and then form a company, what they will improve their quality of life, their families and their communities.
