Poverty 2 Prosperity is working to help young people move forward where opportunities for work are limited. In Guatemala things are rough, and we wanted to share the story of Manuela who makes traditional clothing. Thank you so much for helping make Manuala and other young people have opportunities to advance their families.
Manuela is a woman with a lot of aspirations in life. She is 24 years old, single and with a family that consists of an 8 year old son who will start primary school this year. The family lives in a community of Sololá.
In order for Manuela to obtain her income and get her family ahead, she buys and sells traditional clothing. She has been doing this activity for 8 years, but in order to improve her income she also works as a cook for an organization. Thanks to the friendliness with which Manuela serves her customers, she has a lot of demand or her products. That is why she has decided to ask for a loan to buy more merchandise such as güipiles, sashes and cortes (skirts). Her great hope in life is to fortify her business and improve her and her family's quality of life.
