Hello, nice to meet you. I am Akiko, one of the volunteers in Oversea crowdfunding function, Piece of Syria. I joined this group in April 2025.

I live in France, married to a Frenchman and raising 3 children. I like reading, traveling and meeting interesting people. I do Karate as well, honestly it hurts a bit.

How I found the Piece of Syria:

The trigger was small articles written by Takayuki Nakano, the founder, on his blog. It was 2016. In his articles, the beauty of the Syrian culture and the history as well as the generosity of the people were described. It was totally different from the majority of Media in Europe. After this discovery, I could get to know that he created an NGO supporting education for Syrian children. I like the goal of the NGO, to make Syria a country we want to visit again!!

The motive of joining the NGO is my personal interest, to meet and connect with interesting people and … that was spot on!

The activities of this overseas crowdfunding:

We just started this operation. Until now, we have been working on creating English materials in order to let our activities be known outside Japan. The goal of course is to reach more people across the world who can contribute to the funds needed for our operations in Syria. Alongside this, I also find my personal reward in meeting and connecting with interesting people all over the world.

Her journey shows how one person’s curiosity can grow into a bridge between cultures. With her dedication, we hope to share Syria’s true image with even more people around the world.

Together, we believe his work will inspire many to connect, learn, and care.Together, we can create small changes that lead to something truly meaningful. Your support is helping us create a brighter future for children in Syria.
