 Nice to meet you, I am Mako, a university student studying international relations. At the NGO, I am working as a social media and crowdfunding intern.

Motivation (what led you to POS)

I’ve always been interested in international cooperation. While studying International Relations and Development Studies at university, I started wondering how I could get involved in this field in my own way.I wanted to experience what international cooperation really looks like, not just from textbooks — so I decided to apply for an internship at an NGO.Through my studies, I sometimes noticed a gap between the image shown in the media and the reality on the ground.

That’s why the message on the Piece of Syria website — “We want to support Syria not because we feel sorry, but because we love it.” — really touched me.It made me want to join and share Syria’s beauty with others.

Specific Contributionsyour role and activities

As an intern at Piece of Syria, I’m mainly responsible for social media communication and newsletter production.My goal is to help people discover the true charm of Syria and take an interest in the activities of our organization through online outreach. 

Vision and Passion

What I’m most passionate about is expanding possibilities for children.Through my own experiences—such as attending university and studying abroad—I’ve realized how opportunities and experiences can truly shape one’s life.That’s why I want to help create better educational and social environments where children have more choices for their future.

To make that happen, I believe it’s important for more people to learn about our activities.
In addition to managing our social media and newsletters for supporters, I also hope to work on our international SNS outreach and develop new ways to connect with supporters—so that more people can discover and fall in love with the beauty of Syria and what we do at Piece of Syria.

I hope more people will discover the beauty and strength of Syria through our work. Every bit of support and interest helps us continue making a difference for the children’s future.
