After hurricanes Irma and Maria hit Puerto Rico in 2017, Jovenes de Puerto Rico en Riesgo, Inc. (Puerto Rico Youth at Risk, Inc.) has worked non-stop to reestablish the prevention programs that distinguish our organization. Our committed staff, volunteers and supporters enabled this recovery. Our focus now is to continue building our capacity to recover from financial and organizational devastation caused by the hurricane's impact and to respond effectively to future catastrophic events.
The devastation caused by the 2017 hurricanes in Puerto Rico was enormous. Although we have achieved the reestablishment of our prevention services for youth at risk, there is still a need for long-term recovery in terms of financial and organizational capacity.
This project will create and support the training of our staff and volunteers, and the development of an emergency response plan for the recovery of any unforeseen challenges. It will also allow us to complete our sustainability efforts with a dedicated team member who will implement key activities for our organizational stability.
This project will build a network of prepared members and volunteers, as a part of our organizational structure. It will also provide stability in our capacity and financial resources that are needed in response of an emergency. This will aid us in rebuilding our organizational resilience to manage potential emergencies more effectively.
