It looks like with a final push in December, we could have our newest birth center in the Philippines open in the early part of the new year!
Why is the building and launching of this birth center important?
We want to share a story from our midwife at one of the birth centers Mercy in Action supports on another island, who was called to assist this unexpected delivery this week:
"The story that I want to share to is about patient I will call Jae. A man called me and asked for help because his sister gave birth in a motorcycle and when they arrived, I quickly got their motorcycle in, and immediately got Jae into the delivery room to be taken care of. Jae is smiling while breastfeeding her daughter for the first time and told me thank you maam even though I didn't have prenatal care at this clinic you were taking good care of me right away and we are so thankful with the service we received."
In the Philippines, there not enough welcoming medical facilites where birth is free and the midwives go the extra mile to help women like Jae.
Thanks for your help in changing all that. We are on the last push to get this new birth center open in a community in need of the same kind of excellent care that Jae received. Regardless of the cirumstances, no one is ever turned away from a Mercy In Action birth center!
We will report again in 2025! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
love,
Vicki and the Mercy In Action team
