Please find attached our updated report on the tireless work that Toybank has been doing to ensure that the Covid-19 pandemic does not derail the personal development of the children that it has supported with funding from Child Action.
According to the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) 2020, 1 in 10 households have bought a smartphone and the team at Toybank have rapidly adapted their work to tap into this resource.
As poor families struggle to make ends meet throughout the pandemic, our NGO partner has taken an transformative approach to ensuring play goes on by embracing technology and overcoming the barriers put up by social distancing and stay at home orders.
60% children now have access to smartphones. WhatsApp has been a popular and accessible medium for transferring learning materials and, therefore, Toybank disseminates its Play2Learn Kit through this medium. Toybank Play2Learn Kit has ensured that daily 51,610 children have continued to learn through play. It has guided and supported 2,140 teachers and 7,476 parents through 431 support groups.
