Challenge

Curiosity is the antidote to prejudice and closed-mindedness - schools that fuel students' curiosity and critical thinking are at the core of a democratic society. Unfortunately, too many students find their curiosity stifled at school. That's where Inspired Teaching comes in.

Solution

For three decades, we've been making school better for kids by working with the people who shape their daily learning experiences: teachers. Through improvisation-based professional development, we train teachers to build uncertainty tolerance and to build their students' curiosity, critical thinking skills, and empathy. The teachers we train feel more energized and supported in their jobs, which is especially important in addressing retention in the teaching profession.

Long-Term Impact

We achieve our mission through teacher training and youth programs that model our philosophy and approach. Our improvisation-based approach to teaching is often a revelation for educators seeking a new way to build creativity, critical thinking skills, and content knowledge, for themselves and their students. Our programs teach teachers to shift their role from information provider to Instigator of Thought.
