Thank you for your continued support of our mission to build a climate-smart Caribbean. As we reflect on a transformative 2024, the Caribbean Climate-Smart Accelerator (CCSA) has made significant strides in advancing climate resilience across the region. Your generosity has helped us drive impactful initiatives that protect our people, environment, and economies from climate change.
Key Achievements in 2024 Global Leadership & Advocacy
- Our CEO, Racquel Moses, continued to elevate the Caribbean’s voice in global climate negotiations as a Race to Zero & Race to Resilience Global Ambassador. She was also recognized by Reuters as a Trailblazing Woman in Climate for her leadership.
- At COP29 in Baku, CCSA played a pivotal role in advocating for increased climate finance for Small Island Developing States (SIDS). Finance Innovation Director Cheryl Senhouse led discussions on innovative funding models to bolster regional resilience.
Expanding Climate Innovation
- In October 2024, we launched new features on the Climate Smart Map, allowing users to contribute data and climate projects. This expansion has driven greater collaboration, with 5,000 active users as of January 2025.
- We championed the push for a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty at UN SIDS4, advocating for systemic changes in global energy policies and the transition to sustainable energy.
Empowering Communities Through Climate Action
- Small-scale farmers in St. Vincent, once struggling with unpredictable weather, are now thriving with climate-smart farming techniques with the use of innovative hydroponic systems that enable year-round food production and economic stability.
- Our sustainable agriculture initiatives, including vertical hydroponics, were featured in UNDP’s Harvesting Innovation showcase, highlighting the Caribbean’s leadership in food security solutions.
Disaster Response & Resilience
- Following Hurricane Beryl, CCSA mobilized funds to support affected Caribbean communities. This rapid response effort reinforced the importance of regional cooperation and climate adaptation, in alignment with CARICOM’s initiatives.
Private Sector & Technological Innovation
- In partnership with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), CCSA is strengthening the Climate Smart Map by continuing to develop and refine its data. This ongoing work supports the publication of comprehensive reports that drive innovation, enhance resilience, and promote economic growth in the Caribbean’s first climate-smart zone.
Media & Advocacy
- CCSA’s leadership and initiatives gained global recognition in 2024, with features in Euronews’ COP29 coverage, Yorkshire Bylines, and Semafor, reinforcing the Caribbean’s climate priorities on the international stage.
Looking Ahead
With $14,800 remaining to reach our campaign goal, we are focused on scaling up:
