Dear Friends
This quarter was marked by significant achievements, most notably the launch of two new Inclusive Education Resource Centres (IERCs) at Kamengo Primary School and Canon Apolo Demonstration School, with a third facility currently being built. To ensure true integration, three teachers underwent rigorous training at the Kyaninga Inclusive Model School before transitioning into full-time roles as Inclusive Support Teachers (ISTs). These ISTs are now physically and operationally embedded within their respective schools, which have also been upgraded for full physical accessibility. By working side-by-side with general classroom teachers every day, our ISTs ensure that inclusion is not an external initiative but a fundamental part of each school's unique identity.
Your support is impacting the most marginalized children through our Community Pop-Up Classroom initiative. These weekly sessions focus on developing school-readiness and self-assurance for those previously denied an education. This quarter alone, we hosted 21 sessions with 94 recorded attendances. As a direct result of these initiatives and thorough community evaluations, 39 children who had previously been shut out of the education system have successfully enrolled in school, restoring hope for their families.
Beyond physical infrastructure, sustainable inclusion is rooted in the transformation of community attitudes and perspectives. Our ISTs have led community awareness events for parents, teachers, students, and local leaders — focusing on disabilities that are most often misunderstood, and using real parent voices, interactive games, and whole-school assemblies to build empathy and challenge stigma. All 18 of our partner schools are now actively building awareness and positive attitudes towards disability and children’s right to an inclusive education.
Finally, the long-term foundation of everything we do: teacher training. All 18 partner schools completed the third module of our Excellence and Inclusion CPD programme this quarter, equipping four teachers per school with skills in assessment, classroom adaptation, and child-centred support. Meanwhile, 7 head teachers, 5 KIEH senior leaders, and 4 City Education Officers progressed through our Leadership for Change course — building the leadership capacity to make inclusion sustainable, systemic, and lasting across the entire region.
None of this is possible without you. Every donation funds the classrooms, the training, the ramps and walkways, and the patient, persistent work of our team. You are changing lives — one child, one school, one community at a time.
With heartfelt appreciation for your continued support.
