A Heartfelt Update: Our Journey Towards Self-Sustainability and Growth

By Khaled Abdou | Director

On behalf of every student, teacher, and community member at Sofraa Primary School, we extend our deepest gratitude for your continued, unwavering support. The progress we’ve made is a direct reflection of your generosity. Because of you, our primary students are receiving quality education and nutritious daily meals, setting them on a path toward a healthier, more hopeful future.

Thanks to partners like you, our school is thriving:

  • Stable Enrollment: We successfully managed the last academic year, maintaining full enrollment and providing a safe, engaging learning environment for all our young pupils.

  • Health and Nutrition: The consistent meal program you help fund has dramatically improved attendance and concentration in the classroom, ensuring our children are well-nourished and ready to learn.

Your support isn't just funding; it is the foundation upon which these children are building their lives.

While we celebrate our successes, we also believe in transparency. As we grow, we continue to face core challenges that require attention to ensure the safety and quality of education:

  • Facilities Maintenance: Our current primary school infrastructure requires ongoing maintenance, including repairs to classroom roofs and sanitation facilities, which are critical before the heavy rainy season begins.

  • Learning Materials: To meet the needs of every student, we urgently need to restock and upgrade our supply of textbooks and essential learning resources, which quickly wear out from daily use.

  • Consistent Meals: Ensuring a reliable supply chain for ingredients remains a challenge, and every donation is crucial for guaranteeing that every child receives their essential daily meal.

We are working tirelessly to secure stable resources, but until we reach full self-sustainability, the support of our dedicated donors bridges this critical gap.

We are thrilled to announce that we are now actively preparing for our biggest step yet: the opening of our secondary school program next year!

This transition is the logical next phase in our mission. By providing local access to secondary education, we can ensure our primary graduates continue their learning journey without the prohibitive costs and distances often associated with higher-level schooling. This expansion means we can support our students right up to graduation, equipping them with the skills needed to become future leaders in their community.

Every donation made now has a dual impact: it ensures the stability and quality of our existing primary school operations (education and meals) and directly fuels the preparation needed to launch the secondary school.

Slowly but surely, we are becoming near our dream and target to see the school self-sustained and children in Uganda have quality education, health, and life. Your partnership makes this vision a reality.

Thank you again for believing in our students and our mission.
